I make my own shortcuts anyway, because I can.

If you don't know how to make shortcuts, I would just stick to whatever path 999's shortcuts point to and go from there.

All his shortcuts point to pocketQuake residing in the root directory, so put the file there and don't be so anal.

well in the install instructions I am pretty sure I said, make sure that you have the pocketquake.exe file in the /quake directory. so hopefully everyone reads that.

Well, you know how well everyone pays attention to the readme files. Just look at the millions of GFX.WAD questions we get.

Nope, as it didn't have to be in any particular place, I recommended putting in the start menu for newbies:
9) Copy PocketQuake.exe onto your device. Placing it in /Windows/Start Menu/Programs/Games will make it easy to access.

Otherwise they would have to launch file explorer to find and start Quake. That or purchase a 3rd party program to create shortcuts. Oh yeah, an installer could do something like that, couldn't it? ;)

Dan East
well how bout this, on the next version of PQ we have an installer and the installer will automagicaly copy PocketQuake.exe to /quake and then put the shortcut to it in the games folder. And then we could have an installer for our mods too. I would say 30%+ people who want to play PQ have some problems installing, 10% of those see that it has no installer and just quit immediatly. An installer would fix all of this.

I am opposed to installers... but I am a "do-it-yourself" kind of guy anyway.

I guarantee there would still be people posting problems with getting PQ to run on their device.

99% of computer users are complete idiots. The remaining 1% visit PocketMatrix.com on a daily basis.

Ok people how are those configs working? They are both untested. I bound a key to strafe on the casio's and I am curious how you guys like it. I should also note, that I bound like every onscreen button to something. The quake guy and Q buttons add bots on you team and enemy bots. The B and the A buttons change how much CPU resources the bots consume(not sure if this works or not). I think I made either the attack or jump button exec the makebots.cfg so it adds one enemy bot at skill level 2.

An installer wouldn't work. It would require the .pak file inside of it, and all of the device builds in it too! A simple CAB file for each device would work well. But you'd have to make an "upgrade" version that doesn't have the .pak file in it and a "full install" that has the .cfg and .pak snuggly waiting for transport.
