Thanks to Bjorn Eike Schwarz (aka Shapeshifter) we've tried many things to get fmod working on E115G. With no success If I could only get my hands on one of them... Anyway, I'll report the new findings to Brett, the author of the music library.
It doesn't look promising, but I hope we'll be able to fix the problem eventually.
Even overclocked to 168mhz, snails on the E115 is relatively unplayable with either sound or music on (god forbid both)
ok, that's maybe a bit much to say, but it's REALLY slow. Just like in strategic assault, the sound is extremely choppy. And it really slows down the game.
not that it isnt fun without sound...
assembler, different type of music, and not pushing the the hardware as much as you think while it may look like it to some degree graphically, turjah ii isnt doing half as much processor intensive stuff as snails is
hmm, I just saw that the new version of Fmod is out. Do you think it could improve the snails sound on the slower devices? And, will you include it in the new version?
The latest version of Fmod was included in Snails as soon as it was released.. which I believe was the initial release.. if not, its definitely been included in the last update, v 1.6 which can be found at snailsgame.com
We've been working with FMOD for quite some time, to get the PPC issues ironed out. I intially thought that we were using an "unofficially released" version of FMOD in order to test its performance.
