moosemaster1@earthlink.net

Nothing over 1MB, nothing in .mov format, only AVI, MPEG, or WMV. JPEG's are nice too.

Um... I thought you said you were gonna send pictures of a heatsink and 3ns memory. I can't really comment on screenshots of YAME running at 236, but it's probably one of the few hard-working emus that actually run at 236. I'll check it anyway.

Anyway, why are you sending screenshots? Firstly, they're easy to fake, as all you have to do is take a screenshot of you overclocking it to 236mhz, then take more screenshots of it YAME or whatever running non-underclocked. If you send a movie, then it's more viable but it's also easy to make a movie from screenshots. Why don't you just stick to your original suggestion of sending pictures of your heatsink and memory? ...Because THAT'S what we're interested in....

I tell you what: If you can show me how to install a heatsink and 3ns memory, i will send you $100, via paypal. After all, you would be showing me how to perform a revolutionary new upgrade! And it would negate the need for me to purchase an Xscale PPC for a little while, even when they're released! $100 just for opening your Ipaq case and taking pictures? You know it's a good deal!

Ya, I wanted a picture of your heatsink and RAM that says 3NS on it. I would also like to know where you got a soldering iron small enough, because I want to make some mods to my A7M motherboard to unlock the processor multiplier. I've got a water cooling system in my computer and want to take advantage of it, a small soldering iron would be really useful. Put send me a picture of your heatsink.

Heck did Dan even get that much for porting PocketQuake?

I, personally, would like to know how Jimmy Software wrote that JS_Overclock utility and how the range on it can be extended. I think it would be pretty cool to run my cpu on 200 mW so that I can have longer battery life. Also, it should be possible to overclock the StrongARM cpu to around 280 MHz, but then you would have like 140MHz for the memory. Maybe we could strike up a deal with Times2Tech.com to see if they can get us some faster RAM in our upgrades. That will be especially helpful when I overclock my XScale CPU to 733 MHz (or even 1 GHz! :D :D ). Heck, why not? Sure, I might burn up my processor, but I can do testing to make sure it won't.

This should go in our new Overclocking/Hardware mod forum that Matt is going to make...

There is a technical specification document somewhere (i forget where, might've mentioned it in this thread) that states that the fastest attainable speed is 236mhz. I would love to know how Jimmy wrote that Overclock util, though. What's even more impressive is that it's the only one of its kind. Surely SOMEONE must have an idea how he did it?

Hmm...all this talk of overclocking...A certain somebody is probably gonna get more ideas...

It's actually incredibly simple. You write a couple bytes to a hardware address. That's it. I quickly tried creating my own overclock util, based on the specs chriva gave me links to. I couldn't access that address. I tried a hack to switch to kernel mode, but that still didn't work. Perhaps my hack wasn't actually switching the thread out of user mode.

The hardware register that controls the clock speed is PPCR - Power Manager PLL Configuration Register, at address 0x9002000c.

I see....

So soon we'll have a Dex-o-clock util pretty soon in the future? :)

Hmm... I tried writing a overclocking util like that a little while ago, when i first found those tech specs a couple of months ago. It didn't work - It actually appeared to do nothing whatsoever, so i just assumed that i was doing the wrong thing completely. I tried playing about with it, with no progress, although i did manage to soft-reset the device with one attempt. I would be very interested if someone else succeeds at writing such an app. (Source, please? :) )

BTW Chriva didn't discover the tech specs, i mentioned them to prove a point about overclocking. Since then, he's seemed to become an expert at the Ipaq's workings and has managed to add a heatsink & 3ns memory. He's also used it to quote a FSB of "3mhz". Maybe this is all my fault for even mentioning the link in the first place...
