I went in to see Spiderman with absolutely NO expectations at all. I just sat down and said I hope I don't waste 2 and a half hours. I didn't. It was a great movie, especially considering that I didn't part-take in any hype so I wasn't looking for something particular in the movie. I'm not saying it's a hall-of-famer, but it was WELL worth my time, I'll probably buy it on DVD when it comes out.

I agree with Paul that a lot of people like movies because they think they're supposed to like them. Jay and Silent Bob is the worst movie in the world, but people buy it, watch it, and laugh at it because they think they're supposed to laugh at gay and fart jokes. Same thing with Scary Movie... What kind of company would want to put movies like that under their name? I'd be ashamed to give a millions of dollar budget for things like that. There are no redeeming values, but people think they're supposed to think it's funny.

Spider-Man has broken its own single day record with an estimated haul of $45.1m on Saturday (and a revised Friday projection). Box Office Mojo reports:
Spider-Man grossed a whopping $40.5 million on Friday, according to estimates. That's by far the biggest day ever in Hollywood history, shattering Harry Potter's $32.3 million opening day record and Potter's $33.5 million single day record. Then on Saturday, Spidey snared an estimated $45.1 million, surpassing the single day record it had just set.
Early studio estimates have Spidey's opening weekend coming in at $114 million, making it the first movie ever to top the century mark in a single weekend.

Spider-Man has thrown down the gauntlet, and all eyes will be on AOTC box office estimates for May 16th. Thanks to Liam for the alert.

Im not the biased one. Im the one with taste. Your fighting over a movie that you have not even seen and saying its great. YOUR biased simply becuase your overcome that its spiderman. Who cares! the movie blew! and actually I loved sam rami's army of darkness. So who is the biased one here..hmm I like one of sam ramis film, i like batman which was also a super hero movie, but you who has not even SEEN THE DAMN MOVIE YET thinks spiderman is great and that those other films we were "made" to like. Actually I have new for you. How were we made to like fight club? its wasnt on every lunch box and happy meal like spiderman, and very few people even knew what it was about until it was out. So why did it do so well? CAUSE IT WAS A GOOD MOVIE! Unlike spiderman it did not need a shit load of advertising to get people to see it. Now that is what makes you think you should like it. Face it, you like the movie simply becuase your a comic book nerd and cant see beyond that. If they took a big shit and labeled it spiderman, you wouldve thought it was great. The movie was boring and unexciting. Now go play with your star wars toys in your spidey underoos.

I never read Spiderman comic books. In fact I NEVER read any comicbooks at all. Yet Stan Lee is the only comicbook artist/creator I can name.

If you think that Spider-man required a massive marketing ploy to sell this movie to the masses, then you are hugely mistaken. Spider-man has ALWAYS appealed to the masses. Ask anyone on the streets to name 5 superheroes and Spiderman will be in that list EVERY time.

There seems to be a distinct confusion between Paul and Davincis words. Spider-man was created to be a massive blockbluster and generate mass amounts of money. It does that, so where the hell does it fail?

I kind of wanted to see it, but after I heard that the "Evil Dead" guy directed it, I DEFINATELY want to see it. His final decision to include the Twin Towers in the movie was the final blow. With someone of that kind of conviction, I MUST see the movie. I will probably cry when I see those magnificent structures.

Davinci will soon learn in the real world- you can't judge everything on an artistic level, just because you carry an education on the subject.

If you spend too much time judging the movie at every turn, no wonder you don't enjoy it. Let it be what it is.

I have been playing Jedi Outcast lately. On the box, it states a mantra I have carried all my life (although not the same wording). Its kind of funny to see it posted so simply on an icon of pop culture.

To Know The Light, You Must See The Dark.

Figure out how this applies to the artworld, Davinci, and everything will be different. And you will be a better, and much different artist.

Jedi Outcast...what a great game. Ive played the first two, but im not basing it on that. The game stank at first, couldn't get a frickin laser shot on the storm troopers. After i got the lightsabre, boat loads of fun. I even learned how to walk on walls and make a lightsabre spin around me, deflecting everything shot at me

The case with Spider-Man, it was good in the beginning, and then died down a bit. To know the light, you must see the dark. :D
