Verifying Storage Cards?

Verifying Storage Cards?

Postby accolon » May 10, 2002 @ 11:14pm

Since I had some problems with Snails that nobody is able to confirm, I'm wondering if it might be a problem with my PPC after all.

I installed the game on a CF card, so I wanted to check it first.

I downloaded and checked the card for errors, no results.

However, I'm not sure how the tool can check the whole CF card within a few seconds; is there a way to do some kind of in-depth checking on my PPC? I don't have an external storage card reader.

Does anybody know what programs like StorageTools or CNetX FlashFormat exactly do when checking the card?

Another thing:
Are there any tools to test and maintain the whole PPC like burn-in tests for CPU, main memory tests etc.?

Try doing those from your PC. I'm fortunate, my dad has a 340MB IBM MicroDrive, which is a CFII card, but it needs a PCMCIA Type II card adapter to connect to the computer, so when I have to run ScanDisk, I put my CF card in that. Have you tried resetting the device or formatting the card from your computer (PPC OS doesn't format well at all)? You could try to get an adapter.

If the filesystem doesn't allow it? As far as I know, CF cards can be successfully formatted and used with FAT16 or FAT32, unless you mean some other aspect I'm not looking into?

Ohhh, they sure can be. Fortunately, even Windows95 can read whatever file system they use without ActiveSync. You guys should get adapters. They help A LOT. 8)

hey John try reading the *WHOLE* post before responding like 8 times.

Accolon, what is the whole problem you are having?
I have not seen any other post tonight that shows the issues you are having. Maybe I can be of assistance or maybe a base you can help use as a testbed.
Note to self: Why don't you ever listen to me?
