It can vary but the majority of smokers with oral cancer are actually over 50. But, smokers are 10-15 times more likely to have oral cancer than a non, and about 7 times more than a smokeless tobacco user. Mortality for smokers is also about 50 times higher than for smokeless tobacco. Anyway, back to what you were asking..actually I can't remember the average number of years of use before onset, but it IS cumulative. You can stop before you reach 50 but it takes 10 years before your risk for cancer reaches that of a non-smoker again. I'd say I guess if you wanted to quit...quit by age 40 and probably you won't get cancer.  <br><br><br>(But I'd sure hate to be that 3%...)

Are you fucking serious? I started smoking really hard about 4 years ago when i took a health class that showed me all this grody ass scarey stuff about diping. I use to dip before i started smoking, but i cant do it now its just to grose, and not as oraly satisfying.

Well, sure if you smoke hardcore your chances are gonna sky rocket. As for dip, yes...its a big scare about how bad it is. But really, its not that bad other than the occasional gum disease and/or tooth loss. But good oral hygiene should prevent that. Also, I recommend to tobacco users that they switch locations from time to time. If you still dip or chew, you can really drop your chances if you just put it in a different cheek or lip for a while. Spread it out. Oral cancer from smokeless tobacco is highly dependent on where the person placed it the majority of the time. It will not arise (due to dip/chew) in a location where you never placed the tobacco.<br><br>Man, i'm goin on a spill here. Haha.

Wow man what do you do? Are you a dentist? Is that why you have a ppc to do the whole  patient mangement thing? If so i would like to know if a ppc works out good for those purposes.

The PPC does help great with patient management, but mostly with making sure I know when I need to be working and when I can go goof off. But the most important use I have for it besides appointments and contacts (via Outlook on my desktop synced with my PPC)...is a Dental Drugs program. It's my best friend when it comes to complications between drugs and whether or not some anti-depressant is contra-indicated with a local anesthetic and/or vasoconstrictor. Better than a big fatass book to lug around.

Man thats so cool to see a ppc doing somthing that usefull, Why do doctors and dentists and such use ppc instead of palm? Maybe they dont but from what i hear ppc is very common compared to palm in the medical field. What kind of ppc do you have? Is it company supplied?

Since I nver found a prog that had all the info I wanted, I compiled everything in .doc files. Huge amount of work, but after I transcribed everything, it's easy to find what I want. I have doses, formulas, routines, tips, everything you can imagine. Not as fancy as an especific app, just text files.<br>But it works perfectly for me.
