Hehe this topic is such a TYPICAL MAC USER TOPIC. Not only do people who own Macs swear by them till their death, they must be vindicated in owning them(Such as starting this post).
I worked at Best Buy for a while, Mac people would come in and try to start PC Vs MAC fights with me. The thing I don't understand is, how owning a mac becomes a lifestyle choice instead of just owning a computer. Heres one of my favorite customers:
Guy/girlfriend come in, girlfriend needs computer. After guy(mac user) starts this big debate, girlfriend ask me who macs are for. I reply "Mac's are for people who dont know much about computers". And thats the TRUTH. Macs are made for ease of use. (Did you know they knowingly sacrificed web browsing performance for a better looking interface? They did, they admit to it.)
Ive programmed for power pc procs, you CANT compare them 1:1. The architectures are very different.
You know when Apple had those commercials about thier processor being 4x the pentium was? They compiled thier benchmark for 486's then ran it on a pentium. By using the same logic, many people were able to make thier celerons look faster(which we all know they are not faster than anything.)
Macs have thier niche market, they will keep it. They don't need massive market penetration. I don't see them going anywhere. They are the "company that cares".
