Ipaq screen cleaning question

Ipaq screen cleaning question

Postby cheryl crawford » Aug 26, 2002 @ 1:47am

OK here's one from a new owner. What do you use to clean your screens with? I am deathly afraid of scratching mine but its definately needing to get a few smudges off here and there. What works well for this and what about the overlays for the screens? Are they worth using and if so which ones work best.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't know about screen protectors, but my t-shirt (cotten) does perfectly well in cleaning the screen.

If you wear glasses, then get a microfiber cloth and anti reflective cleaning solution. Spray the cleaning solution on the cloth, and you're good to go. And then rub the screen... Literal minds... Grrr..

Overlay:

I've never tried a thin plastic film overlay, but I do have the Compaq hard-case thingy, which I find very useful (it's got a hard PVC shell over the screen on a hinge). Compaq part number 249703-B21
(can't find a URL right now 'cos my Internet access is kinda borked).

Basically it means I can sling my little iPAQ into my bag without fear that something is going to trash my screen, and it protects against dust pretty well too because it's almost flush to the device.

Screen-cleaner:

Same as MC - I use my glasses cleaning cloth and some screen-cleaner (but if you're getting it mucky you're probably doing something wrong :) ).

Cheers,

Ref.

I never really have problems with my Jornada 568 screen getting dirty because its got the built-in cover. But if it does get dirty, like Sponge, I just use my shirt.

I strongly suggest using a screen protector. But before you put one, make sure your screen is clean.

I use a paper calling card to remove the dirt in the edges between the screen the silver casing. You can also use 3M's scotch tape to remove lint on the screen.

Then you apply the screen protector. Its been effective on my iPaq especially while playing games.
Try this site .

I also suggest getting the PVC plastic case that Compaq manufactures especially for iPaqs. I use that one too.
