Sound choppiness on iPaq 3600

Postby Guest » May 3, 2002 @ 6:53pm

I also have sound choppiness on my 3600. I have to turn off music and sfx sadly, I want to hear them!

I have nothing else running at all, nothing sucking up precious cpu cycles.

Excellent game. I've had a lot of fun playing Argentum, look forward to the release.

About the stacking units issue

Postby SirTendeth » May 3, 2002 @ 7:30pm

I don't have the demo, or a PPC at the momment. But a suggested solution would be to have something like the board game risk has stacking of units. EG. there would be a small number on or above the unit indicating the actual qty. Or you could have the unit change color to represent 5, 10, 20 units Etc.

Just an Idea. Thanks for making a game like this!

It sounds like he may be mistaking the game for a turn-based strategy game, kinda like Heroes of M&M

maybe this will clear it up.

Postby SirTendeth » May 3, 2002 @ 8:28pm

What I was referring to without knowledge of the games actual inner working, was a method of identifying the number of unit in one place at the same time, or even more likely units being moved as a group.

I think it could be better compared to starcraft ctrl groups, with the difference being that when you make a group it gives a number of unit in group on screen.

The biggest problem, since this is real time, is the temporary "Stacking" that takes place when units cross. I'm not sure that can be easily addressed.

But at least the group move of a large cluster of units could be addressed this way.

a little late, but anyway

I just found out there was a new version of the demo. Runs without any freezes on my iPaq 3870. I have no cf-cards (yet), so I'm only using RAM. When starting the game, I have about 26MB free program memory.

I really like the gamma and the skip-tutorial options. Don't change your mind again Carp!

Can't wait for the real game to arrive.

Uh...addressed, how? Like, "it's been mentioned," or "it's been dealt with"? 'Cause it's like-but-not-quite-the-same as my suggestion that when a group of units are stationary and bunched together under one icon, there should be some sort of colored outline or a special grapic that only takes up the space of one icon, but looks more like a crowd of that unit, like a bunch of tanks might have a few turrets sticking out, or...well, the colored outline might be easier. B)

But I'm not suggesting that they stay clumped when moving, which seems to be what SirTendeth is saying...

I would, however, certainly appreciate being able to visually differentiate at a glance between clumped troops and non-clumped troops... :D

Oh. Huh. The above Anonynous post about clump-visualization options is from HowlingBears--I'm on the road this weekend, and don't remember my login info...I should really make use of this CodeWallet thingamajig...

About the stacking units issue

Postby trauts » Aug 27, 2002 @ 4:09am

He means you could have what looks to you like 1 unit be 3 units to make it less cluttered

I just now realized that there is an update on Argentum. I have the registered version of Argentum 1.092, how do i upgrade to 1.1? Do I have to buy the game again?
