C/C++ compiler right on PocketPC

C/C++ compiler right on PocketPC

Postby vit » Oct 12, 2003 @ 7:47am

Finally I finished porting GCC/Binutils to PocketPC, so now it's possible to develop right on PDA. Still much left to do, but now it can build almost all samples from PocketPC 2002 SDK without changes to source code. MFC isn't supported at this moment.

More info and downloads at http://mifki.ru/pocketgcc

That website is no longer available. However I've found the Yahoo Group the author created to host this project:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pocketgcc/

You will have to "join" the group to access the files. The project seems to be very active.

Gotta say a big thank you too! Coding C++ on the train is so much more fun than playing solitaire. Am I warped?

How the heck did I miss this? Was this post moved here from another forum?

Anyway, very cool! Pocket PC has needed this for years now.

Pretty nifty. Well, I gave GameWrite a chance and it was more of a script engine than a compiler. Well anyway, this is a pretty cool idea so I'll give it a shot. Maybe see if some of my simple projects compile under it.

I can use PocketConsole to use interfaceless apps. I highly suggest it.

I should probably do this myself, but can this thing compile the gapidraw/pocketfrog examples? If it's a capable compiler (and maybe even if it isn't) I've been comtemplating developing an IDE better suited for the PPC for some time now.

Well, It's still something of a pipe-dream. My current project is taking the majority of my free-time. If that ends early (~2-3 monthes from now), I'd definatly consider making something like this. But it would be built with only myself in mind, although I'd give it and the source to whomever wanted it.

That being said: I wouldn't count on my lazy *** to get anything done. :)
