Pocket Divx does not support the PRO features of Divx 5.0x

do not use Quarter Pel or GMC and if you use B-frames they will simply be skipped.

Why DivX 5.0?

Simply its by far the worst Divx ever.. The files are bigger and the quality is worse.
I dont get it.

I've been ripping DVD since divx 3.11. And I think this one was the best one.
Since this version the files just grew bigger and the quality worse.

Any of you feel the same?

Another question.. Has any of you been able to rip a DVD movie to a small file capable of been used on the PDA?(30 Megas)
I've been trying to follow the tutorials, but I simply cant.. the files are huge.

A whole DVD in 30 MB?
Possible, but the quality would be... bad. So bad that the movie wouldn't be watchable, in my opinion.

Just think of the sound: (almost) CD quality MP3 (128kbps) takes up 30 MB for about 30 minutes, even at the suggested setting of 32kbps for Pocket DivX audio it's still the same amount for 2 hours - audio ONLY! Where do you want to put the video data?

However, the video compression algorithms available these days aren't THAT powerful. Sorry, no luck.

Of course, you can always try lower resolutions and lower bitrates for audio and video, but I don't think the results would satisfy you...

For really good Divx movies from Accolon's awesome guide and after I crop out the credits and crap like that a typical movie for me is 132-168megs

I have
Big Daddy
Hackers
Fast and Furious
Swordfish
Atlantis
Shrek (Video a little choppy)
Kiss of the Dragon
Office Space
Iron monkey (kinda hokey with the audio though)
Duce Bigalow

I have done them all with the divx 4.12 codec and they are really good. Takes me about 5-7 hours per movie to rip and they all fit on 2 cds so I dont use all my diskspace on ppc divx rips and stuff. All I can say is thanks to everyone that has helped with the guides and answering question in the forum.
Note to self: Why don't you ever listen to me?

We the unwilling led by the unqualified for so long with so little we now attempt the impossible with nothing
