Virus (Luc)

Virus (Luc)

Postby Diego Cueva » Nov 29, 2001 @ 12:55pm

Luciano, I just got an email from you with a virus. It automatically opened WMP and tried to access my computer. I deleted it but I´m checking for viruses on my HD as I type, just to be sure it´s gone.

So, everyone else, if you get an email sent by Luc´s address, delete it.

Shit, every time I check for new mail I'm hit by the fucker, but NAV nails it. It's called W32Badtrans.B@mn. What's going on?

Hehehe, I love getting viruses thru e-mail ;) (no don't send me them)

I think I got that Badtrans thing yesterday too, it was an e-mail with the subject "Re:" and nothing in the message body. It had two files attached one with a name like *.MP3.pif.
I have no AV prog but I'm pretty sure I didn't get the worm...
Yup, that's the subject line. I got the desgraciatto because a fellow biker asked me for a file and I (stupidly) opened his e-mail without checking first. My NAV wasn't uptodate, since it lett it past.
MZ, I don't think you caught it, but why the hell you don't use an AV? That's dangerous, man.

Yeah, but AVs are also a pain in the ass (use memory, start scanning at inappropriate times...).
And it seems like those worms are the most usual ones now, so as long as I don't open stupid e-mails I should be safe ;)

Who know of a good free AV for winxp?

Also if I would catch a virus, I would in the worst case get a free HD cleaning ;)

Your right on that one. My mistake was opening an e-mail from a suspicious source (I broke one of my rules, so punishment came swiftly :()
And about your request, usually "good" and "free" don't mingle very well. What about PCcilin? I still think NAV is worth the price, just customize it's options (never got mad at it once).
