Do you leave your PPC on the charger alot? Some types of batteries will "die" faster if you leave them charging all the time. I think Lithium Ion batteries don't have this problem, but I don't know if your PPC uses a Li-Ion battery.

That would make your Maestro a bit un-portable.

Where do you plan on using your Maestro during the day? You might consider bringing along an AC adapter and charging it when you're not using it.

Maybe try to build one that uses AA batteries; that would be nice.

I think I saw before some plans for building this kind of extender; maybe you can buy one somewhere.
