Best. Screen. Ever.

Best. Screen. Ever.

Postby favek » Nov 12, 2002 @ 11:53am

Wow this site is awesome. So much information!

So I am going to get a new PDA for xmas, but what I am looking for is the best PDA screen to date. I want the richiest most vibrant colors I can get outdoors or in. I am an digital artist so it pertains to my work. I want be able to show off my portfolio to the guy next to me on the train, on the best looking screen :)

I have heard the IPAQ 3900 series had the best screen and I was going for that one, until I came here and heard all this hype about the new Viewsonic. The make screens so I would think it would be good or even BETTER than IPAQ's?

Any suggestions?

But remember, the Viewsonic ppc has budget limitations. They will probably have to make a really cheap transreflective screen. Plus, no one has the actual production devices yet, so there is no actual review.

If you can't wait to buy, its safe to say you will be happy with a Ipaq 39xx. Its transreflective even beats the Sony/Palm transreflective screens in brightness and rich color.

Also, I hear that reflective screens are the best outdoors. Contrast wise, compared to transreflective. Trans for indoors, reflective for outdoors. Trans looks good outdoors, but not as good.

Recharge Port? Like, what, a DC In that the power cord can attach directly to? No, the iPaq charges through a USB connection on the bottom. It comes with a power cord adapter that lets it connect through the USB port and charge, so it's no big deal... I do wish it was just a regular power plug on the bottom, though.

I have an H3955, also. I love it, but there are better PocketPC's out there, like the Asus Zayo. May not be what you want for graphics, but it's fast and small and everything.

Except that the E-125 is three generations old, runs PocketPC, a MIPS processor, and is no longer in production nor supported by Casio.

I didn't say it was the best PocketPC, just the best screen.

Even though I frankly find that having one overclocked at 204MHz is fine, except that people have started to release software with no MIPS support... if it wasn't for that, I'd argue that even though it is three generations old, runs PocketPC and is no longer in production or supported, it could actually be considered the best.

But that's not what the question was, and I'm NOT saying it's the best anyway... simply that the screen is the best ever.

As Mechcommander said though, he had a need for outdoor viewing and that was a big consideration for him... that's the only thing agains the 125.

This is all just my opinion of course... even though I'm right. :)

He wanted the best PocketPC for his needs, not a debate about the best screen being on a device that's 3 years old. Calm down. No one asks "what's the best PocketPC screen, I want to buy one." and want to hear that an incompatible device no longer sold is what he's looking for.

He mentioned DIGITAL artist, which you wouldn't want a slow processor for (you'd be surprised how much work you can do on the go in graphics/html type programs)
