Wow, I'm surprised no one has responded to this yet. The only explanation I can think of is that this a Pocket Quake forum and not a pure Quake forum, but I'd still think someone would have known about it.

actually, I created a special configuration for PocketQuake well over a year ago for this. If you go to the Hack and Slash website, they have a link to my site to download the file(s).

Since then, Hack and Slash has moved to editing the QuakeWorld Source. This makes future compatibility with PocketPC impossible unless they specifically compile it for PPC. So the version I edited may be the last one for PPC.
