AVI-files on my PC ->sound but no picture

Hi,

trying to play avi-files Windows Media Player (latest version) on my new PC (windows xp) I can hear the sound but no picture.

Does anybody know what the reason might be?

The only thing I can think of right now is to download the Divx codec. Most avi files are now in Divx format.
