Watching Movies on a PPC!

Watching Movies on a PPC!

Postby Dihnekis » Jan 3, 2003 @ 3:16am

I ordered a Dell Axim 300mhz model, and I got a 256mb CF card at the same time. I have several DVDs ripped to my computer, and I can compress them into small 150-200mb sizes, without much quality loss. If I use pocket divx, and run them on my PPC, how will the quality be? Do any of you do this? Help would be appreciated.

The quality won't be the greatest, but very watchable. If you want to increase the quality, someone suggested to split the movie into two files. You won't be able to watch the whole movie at the same time, but you could increase the quality more. Like two files that are 200 mbs each.

I also ordered a 256MB CF card from Circuit City, and I can't wait to try out some full movies!! :D I have tried some smaller things like trailers, and they work pretty good.

Got 512MB CF for $131. w00t. 4 15 minute cartoons, and 28 music videos (full audio quality, pretty good video quality) in about 250-300MB (hey I've got data too)

By the way, anyone know any good deals on CF/SD (don't think there are any) WiFi cards, and a cheap router to match?
holy internets batman.

I think the Linksys WCF12 is pretty cheap, like $50 or so.

in the reader reviews they talk about using it in an axim, but it is type 1. The Axim has a type 2 slot... so how do they do it?

I believe that type I card is just thinner than type II card, but their connectors' sizes are the same [just like the PC cards].
