e740, ATI, XScale, Varium, etc

Postby Robotbeat » Jan 10, 2003 @ 8:46am

Do people somehow hate the e740? I know that I'm exaggerating this, but it seems that every time someone thinks of a way to fix the slow framerate on e740 issue, someone will just dismiss it. It's like you guys HATE the e740 and refuse to even try to support it. This just seems to be the impression I'm getting from some of you guys. Do you intend to NOT support the e740, then? No matter what? Ever? I would like to know. You guys are skirting around the issue and some of you are supporting the idea of e740 support(kinda) while others think that such a thing is just a simple waste of time. REally. What's going on? Even though a large percentage of people have e740s, you guys still haven't even said, "Yes, e740 support is a good idea. We'll work on it as soon as we release the regular version." What's up?
Die, Palm, Die. If that offended you, then get rid of your Palm OS device.

I'm sure Dan and Randall have asked ATI for the SDK. The point is that ATI refused to distribute the SDK to them, which is their mistake. They obviously made it clear that they don't want what is sure to be a very popular PocketPC game to run well on their device.

I just gained some extra respect for Marc of PocketMVP who optimized for the ATI/e740 only a few months after the unit's release.

I guess that's the difference between Open Source and commercial applications.

The main coder made an optimization to a program, so that makes open source better than closed? Right.
