My school is faily new (built about 5 years ago), and they've equiped every room with LAN connections under the floor, so we (in theory) can come in, plug in our computer or PDA to the jack on the floor beneath our desk, and get connected to the resources that we need. I can just imagine what that'll cost the school though. Not only will they have to put down new carpet (currently the jacks are covered up underneath the carpeting in all the rooms) but they'll also have to figure out some way to get a chord up to the desks without causing a hazard (can you imagine 20 kids plugging in cables and having them run everywhere? I doubt my school will get this up and running anytime soon though, as currently we're in a bit of a budget crisis (to the point where they're sending home mail telling parents to email their senators).
