...except for watching movies. It's much larger too.

If games are important, though, don't get the Toshiba. Not only is it pathetically slow in them, the buttons have a 1/3 second delay which apparently is annoying.

The Dell isn't so substantiall bigger that it makes much difference to me. The shape is much more pleasing to hold for extended periods and it doesn't have the sharp edges that are apparent on the top and bottom edges of the E740. So the Dell is even more comfortable to carry loose in my pocket.

For what the e740 cost ($475), I could have almost bought 2 Dells and a Wifi card- thats a much more bang for my buck.

The Dell is perfectly fine for playing regular sized movies. Unless you're going to play 800kbps videos with a resolution far exceeding that of the PocketPC screen then the Dell Axim will by far fit your movie watching needs.

I watched the entire Gone in 60 Seconds movie on my Casio E-125 when I had it and it ran perfectly. The Dell Axim is much faster than the E-125. It will be able to play anything you throw at it within reason.

Regular sized movies?

Postby Mech-Warrior » Feb 23, 2003 @ 7:16pm

Hi everyone,
Just got my Axim two weeks ago. 400MHZ. Let me say that for playing 3-D games for hours on end,(phenominal battery life) I've had no problems. I bought It mainly to keep myself occupied while I goof off at work. I use Pocket TV (a free player) for playing my movie clips. (WMP for the PPC sucks) I seem to have trouble playing video clips larger than 10 MB's. The player will generally stop responding if I ask too much of it. (My movie clips are generally 872kbps+) Is this too much? Microsoft Activesync came with my PPC. Files are automaticlly converted to portable format. Is there a way to reduce the kbps of the movie file?
