Pocket PC GPS system

Pocket PC GPS system

Postby Dave H » Mar 27, 2003 @ 11:52pm

My dad has a Jornada 568 with a GPS system/route planner, which apparently he's not too happy with since it took him off the motorway only a busy A-road the other day and then back onto the same motorway (doh - I knew that system was crap!)
I'm not sure of the name of the software this moment but it has 'custom drawn' blue 3D-looking menus instead of the standard windows controls.

Anyway, he's thinking of scrapping it and giving it to me, but I was wondering, does anyone know how to write code to communicate with the GPS receiver? Do you just write NIMA(?) commands to COM1 or COM3 or something and then get the coordinates back?
Could end up writing my own funky GPS program :))

Anyone tried communicating with a GPS system before? (In particular this one...)

So I guess that means it's non-standard after all then :(

Yes, because every GPS hardware works with every GPS software, you can mix and match.
