Hey man! I'm learning eVB too. I'm sure you have downloaded the software to build the programs. I have done the tutorials on JustPPC also. Try and make some programs using the skills you have learned at JustPPC.
Some types of programs that a beginner can make:
Word Processor
Financing Program(tuffie)
Calculator
Word games(really fun, like choose your own adventure)
Soundboard(funny)
