A comprehensive ReadMe for Quake on Axim?

A comprehensive ReadMe for Quake on Axim?

Postby SimonFromDenmark » Jun 14, 2003 @ 10:01pm

Somewhat new to action games on pocket PC - 8)
I'm thrilled to learn that you can play Quake (I and II)on your pocket PC
Reading a number of threads here I understand that the gaming experience (obviously) is rather machine dependent.

Planning to buy a Dell Axim - I would like to hear
it directly from someone that the Dell actually passes the benchmark of playing Quake?!
So, does anyone have a fresh report on the Quake experience on the Dell Axim X5 (Intel XScale processor, PXA255, 300 MHz,
32 MB RAM, 32 MB ROM, OS Microsoft Pocket PC 3.0.11..) -
Including a comprehensive ReadMe for setting it up?
One thread was very confusing on the setup - anyone
knows a straightforward link to this? Does it work?

What are the system requirements, really?
In another thread I read that the framerate on the
Axim X5 Basic (300MHz XScale) is
7.2 FPS
What does this actually mean in terms of
a hands on gaming experience?

I thought it said in the readme.txt file that if you want to play the full registered game you have to copy the PAK1.PAK file from the original Quake game on your computer that you bought in 1992 into the ID1\ directory on your PocketPC.
