Yeah I kind of lost almost everything in my old PC too. But at least Scandisk warned me: "your HD has a problem so scan it everyday from now on, if the problem persists backup your files". <br><br>After one week my Windows crashed and I could not reinstall it, I lost files and all I could do was use DOS to get some small files that I could store on a Floppy. Yeah, it's pretty damn difficult to screw up a computer installing a CD-RW. I know an 11 year old that could've done for you.

take cord, plug in, set to slave or master. Plug in power. Start computer. Install Burning software. Done.

The software I installed froze right in the middle of updating the system registry, gave me BSoD. I then restarted and my computer wouldn't even recognize my hard drive as a bootable device.

No, it's really nice to be me (ya, I noticed the "jk"). Since i Have about 15 computers I just unplugged my hard drive, slave it to another computer and fix it within 10 minutes.
