I attended some smaller parties and was member of a german group around '96 but i lost interest when 3D accelarator cards became standard!
I recently began porting some of my old effects to my PocketPC and it's really fun to watch all those little effects on such a tiny device...
Yesterday I did a grid-tunnel-raytracer thing (6DOF) which runs pretty fast and is even cache-optimized that way ;)

Maybe we can share some thoughts and ideas about this topic!

I've made a tunnel effect, it's very fast (10ms for a whole frame, including screen blitting to video mem) but it do not have 6deg of freedom like yours...

Mine is using a quite lame precalculated tunnel table and a render loop with cache optimisation ( 16*16 box drawing)

I plan to use this routine (with some improvments) in a game....

and.. hmm.. I would like to see your pre-demo, I could post mine as well...

I was a pretty successful (i.e., somewhat well-known) demo coder back in the C64 days, but when I jumped to PC's around 1990 I didn't do much aside from some BBS demos early on. Count me in for any sharing of knowledge, although I'm not sure I'd have too much to contribute.

It would be cool if we would port our old demos/intros/effects to PPC and put them online. That might encourage others to follow suit.

Btw., will someone go to evoke demo party () in august? I'll be participating in the 4k intro competition :)
