I think ToTTenTranz may have a point. The pocket pc market is going to have to change radically in the next couple years if it is to be seen as a viable gaming platform, primarily since sony is about to invade the market with its playstation portable. This thing is purported to have gaming capabilities somewhere between a ps and ps2 - obviously it has hardware 3d rendering chips - and it has many other pda-like functions including high bitrate movie playback.
So I think this competition may well force ati and nvidia to incorporate 3d hardware into some pdas.
Obviously it should be remembered there will always be a market for the lowest power consuming pdas, so I doubt it will be a uniform change, unless the chips can be made very cheap and remain un-used by those who don't play games.
