Debugging through Bluetooth, possible?

Debugging through Bluetooth, possible?

Postby Kzinti » Aug 6, 2003 @ 7:01am

I just got this nice Bluetooth USB dongle that I promptly installed on my PC. What a marvel! Why did I wait so long to get it! I can sync, I can browse the Internet, I can move files around, and from anywhere in the house!

Ok... Now I try to debug an application with eVC 4.0 and it just won't go through. I get the usual "Cannot connect to device". ActiveSync is connected and works well.

So where is the problem?

Any help appreciated.

Ok, now I can debug through Bluetooth but I can't do it anymore through Eternet... Arg!

The entry in activesync for "network adapter" is gone and has been replaced by "bluetooth". Reinstalling the Socket 10/100 driver didnt help.

The most puzzling thing is that I can sync throught the network (ActiveSync even stays connected), but EVC4.0 doesn't want to connect anymore.

Here is even more: the same thing happens when I connect to my other devices (Maestro and E-125): I can sync, but not use EVC3.0!!! I guess my desktop ActiveSync is all messed up... Thank you Bluetooth.

Any help appreciated.

I do debugging with both Bluetooth, WLAN and USB on various devices. On my H2210 I even do BOTH Bluetooth and WLAN. Usually WLAN, but if my WLAN cards are busy somewhere doing other stuff, I sometimes do a quick debug session over Bluetooth.

I've attached a Bluetooth Access Point to my network - a tiny standalone box that bridges a Bluetooth PAN (Personal Area Network - up to 7 devices) to my LAN.

You are probably using Bluetooth as a virtual serial cable - but I'm using Bluetooth as an extention to my network.

I also have a Bluetooth USB dongle, and I've been able to use a virtual serial connection to connect - but the PAN solution is very smooth - and ActiveSync don't seem to be able to distinguish between using my PAN and WLAN - they are both IP network traffic.

Ok, I just uninstalled ActiveSync and the Bluetooth software from my desktop. Then I reinstalled ActiveSync and setup a partnership with my HP2210. I can now use the Ethernet LAN adapter (Socket 100) with 4.0.

I will now reinstall the Bluetooth drivers, I hope it keeps working =)
