Is there a little USB type plug that you can carry round with you so you can plug PPC's into any PC and get files off it?

With word files on your PPC, you can use the 'save as' function. Assuming you have PPC2002, you should be able to save in PC word format. The, just transfer that file as you would another file.
I use a multi-media reader as well. Got it for $10 off newegg.
