Justin,

I bought it online from in California. It doesn't have the black sandwiched piece between the front and back like the A620 either.

I've been running some low-level benchmarks that I wrote on it and this thing is the fastest PocketPC that I've ever layed my hands on. I'm happy.

Digby,

Oh ok, you didn't get an official US version. Ajump isn't an official Asus MyPal distributor as we are. If you got a BT prior to last week it was most likely gotten from Ajump through Europe. Officially, we're the only reseller of the BT in the US. Mobile Planet will be the next reseller to carry it and everyone else will get it through our distribution. If you wanted help identifing your serial number I could tell you exactly where it's from. If it's not a goldish tint, chances are it's not under warranty in the US. The BT came out in some of Europe and Asia in August and were the same silver color as the regular A620.

Feel free to drop me an email.

Digby,

I'm just checking. I know that ajump is not going through asus to get these a620s becuase I've specifically asked asus. The Asus mobile division is seperate from their motherboard division. Mobile handles notebooks, pdas and wireless products, while the motherboard division obviously handels motherboards, video cards and barebone desktop units.

If you would like a specific contact, I can put you in touch with the head of pocket pcs at asus to see what's going on with it.

I have to agree I like the silver, I just want to make sure you're covered and that if anything happens it can get taken care of. From our expirience, only ourselves and mobile planet are specifically responsible for these products through Asus. Anyone going through distribution is only selling through a distributor and the distributor drop ships it.

I know with their notebooks that we use, the officially branded "asus" notebooks that go to Europe and Asia are one color and the US models are another. It's one way of distinguishing where the model comes from.... color is color.... Silver may just mean that only direct dealers are going to have the goldish tinted BTs... I don't know. Asus doesn't exactly have their act together.

(sorry for rambling myself!)
