Organic Superlube? Oh, it's great stuff, great stuff. You really have to keep an eye on it, though--it'll try and slide away from you the first chance it gets.

Mitac Mio 558 with BT, Wifi, Dual storage, and PXA263

Postby meangene » Jan 21, 2004 @ 5:03pm

I think the new Asus A716 will be an awesome device, but I just purchased a Mitac Mio 558. They're rather hard to come by since the company just gained FCC approval last summer for U.S. sales. If you're interested check Netlux.com for reasonable prices. Last time I checked it was $449. The screen is awesome and battery life is decent at 3.5 to 4 hours of mixed usage (no wifi or bluetooth activated). Like I mentioned in the title, dual expansion slots and dual wireless. Overall, it's a quality device, barring the usual WM2003 "bugs". :)

extra battery

Postby Guest » Jan 22, 2004 @ 6:19am

justin@proportable,

just curious:

about how much will the optional 3000mAh battery cost? Does it stick out or look bulky? Can I assume you will get about 2x the battery life than a normal 1500mAh battery?

Any timeframe for reviews/comparisons going online?

Thanks!

The 3000mAh battery is going to give you 2x the battery life the 1500 will.... It's going to stick out further, but not too much. I don't have any pictures, nor do I have pricing at this moment... i'm waiting on that.

As far as reviews, Matt Keys will be getting his review unit about a week from now. Due to the Chinese New Year, Asus Taiwan is off untill Monday and Monday our review units should leave Taiwan. We will probably get them on Friday, Matt will get his the following Tuesday. We are also sending units to Brighthand and PDABuyersGuide so you can have a well rounded bunch of reviews from very different angles.

Sincerely,
Justin O'Dea

I know this may sound like a stupid newbie question, but I've been someone that has been happy with an EM500 for ages now :p I just pre-ordered an A716 and was wondering if the SD slot would be compatible with my 128MB MMC card that I have about. Also, does anybody here know how the shipping to the UK would work, since the ProPortable site doesn't mention anything about shipping to other countries such as the UK or any inccured costs/time etc... :?:

There's no reason MMC shouldn't work.
