Mine came like that too. I almost made a post about it here, but after 5 minutes I fugured it out. My battery came fully charged also.

THIS probably should be said about the A716.. It's been discussed via email, and should be said to everyone who reads the forums and has a 716 on the way:

The ASUS quickstart guide fails to mention a couple CRUTIAL points about the A716 operation. I'm sure these features are there for safety and not consumer annoyance though:

If anyone finds they can't TURN ON their A716 they should switch the backup battery dip switch under the battery from OFF to ON. ASUS neglected to mention this in their quickstart user guide, and mine came factory set to OFF. I couldn't figure out at first why the device wouldn't turn on after I fully charged it. The explanation is only in the full user manual.

ALSO: The unit WILL NOT CHARGE unless the main battery lock is set to LOCKED. (My old PPC would automaticly LOCK the battery in place once it's slid into the housing, the A716 must be manually locked). This is also not covered in the quickstart guide.

I haven't found any other issues to report

Yes I read your post, and I asked why would the battery be unlocked at all, ever, if you had read my post. My laptop doesn't have a lock, nor does my PPC even have a replacable battery, so I don't quite see something.
