I also would like to see an update to WM2003SE be made available, for both of my PDAs. I believe that Asus has had issues with updates in the past, considering that there have been no "official" firmware updates made publicly available for previous Asus models (someone spelunking into the web servers @ Asus to find unofficial updates doesn't count). Their promise to correct this (via Justin @ PROPortable), and find a way to make those updates (with instructions) made available online, gives me a glimmer of hope that they are headed in the right direction. Releasing an update for the OS on their devices would further enhance that hope, and would go a long way to appeasing the restless Asus community, most of whom have had to deal with ongoing speaker popping for some time now.

Not only that, but the features that are proposed for WM2003SE make it a worthy upgrade as well. Landscape would ROCK, as would correcting bugs in existing versions of WM, IE, etc.

Would I pay for it? Perhaps, if the price was right. I can understand having to pay to upgrade my A620, but upgrades for the A716 should be made without charge.

Model A620

I would love landscape too. I don't see why I would need to buy another device just to get a few updates.

I think that my MyPal was and still is a great value for money, I also think that a SE2003 upgrade would further enhance its value. Naturally I would be more than happy to pay for such an upgrade.

I can also say that if ASUS fails to release this upgrade I'll buy another unit that will have the landscape functionality, needless to say the brand won't be ASUS.

Kudos to Pocketmatrix for this opportunity, at least we have a forum to post our opinions unlike Dell users.

I would also like to suggest that everyone spread word of this possibility on their local forums.

I would love to see asus provide a software update for their hardware. I have been thoroughly satisfied with the device that I purchased and my satisfaction with asus would only increase, if they did.

a620 november 2003

I would really like to have my asus updated, so that software that does not have landscape have landscape (hope that makes scence). I would also be prepared to quite happily pay a small amount (10 pounds) to gain the update. If you do the update, it would be a good way to get rid of the speaker popping on my asus at the moment, which I am beggining to get annoyed with.

thanks pm for the chance to give us a say. :D

wm2003se upgrade

Asus should offer an upgrade to wm2003 second edition. First off, Hp and Toshiba, two of the larger ppc companies are offering wm2003SE upgrades for most of their models, and for free too. The 2210 from HP was released at about the same time as the A620, at a slightly higher price range, and it is getting an upgrade. Dell is also considering it. So 2 out of 3 of the major ppc companies are going to offer it. Asus is currently growing in the PPC field, to keep customers and their good powerful hardware reputation, it would do them good to offer an upgrade. Since Asus didn't offer an upgrade for A600, and if they fail again, it would give the impression to people Asus doesn't like to offer OS upgrades.

Differences between devices should not be due to software limitations, but due to power of hardware. Asus shouldn't limit people by OS, but rather by hardware power.

If asus doesn't release an upgrade, I would be very reluctant to buy another model from them.

I'd like to see the upgrade for my Asus, because I'd like to have landscape mode, and ofcourse more compatibility with furure software.

The main reason I bought the BT version was because it has 64mb ROM, making it able to upgrade to future version of windows (I don't use Bluetooth yet, so that wasn't really a main reason for me to buy the BT version).

And last but not least, like the ROM update I currently have installed, the background image of the today screen is really neat ;).

I'm sure it will make faster too, updates should always be free, and available.
No, I've never seen that, I've never seen anyone drive their garbage out to the curb and bang the hell out of it with a stick. No, I've never seen that.
