Of course I read the entire post. So you're saying a PPC can run Win95 on the emu? What could we run anyways? As for those DOS games, its still a waste of time. Yes I was around for those games but they'd stink on a PPC because of the stylus input method - you really need a mouse to enjoy them, or at least some other method.

I actually used "Maniac Mansion" on PocketDOS some months back. It stank. The colours were rubbish (ega i think) and the animation was amazingly slow. But no-one's particularly happy with PocketDOS anyway.Last modification: Paul - 04/20/01 at 03:56:39

Yes pocketdos does stink. It only emulates up to an 80086 maybe an 80186, which is completely worthless (and it does it extremely slow). And why would a mouse be better than a stylus? That's silly.

Oh and Dan, I posted the address in my second post.
here it is again: ftp://ftp.bochs.com

I don't know for sure, but I remember it being extremely small (consideing I had it on my huge 30 MB harddrive on my 486...) I'm guessing not very big. :)

No, really, I'm serious. I can send it tommorrow by FedEX if you want. If this will help you get the prog ported, by all means, I'm willing to sacrifice my microdrive for awhile. :)

Thanks for the offer! :) I will see how things go first. If I make any serious progress I'll need something more than my 16 MB CF card to test run Windows. It only would seem fair that the person who ported the emulator would get to be the first to see Windows 95/98 boot up on a Pocket PC. :) You should've seen my face when I first saw the Quake Console on my iPaq. You wanna talk about the biggest stupid grin... ;)

Dan East

Yeah, I can imagine the grin quite well.

Actually, I'm more interested in lugging around all my old DOS games. Right now they don't have a home since my SoundBlaster Live! doesn't support true FM synthesis. I was considering building up and old Pentium computer to store the games on permanently, but this is more intriguing.

Ooh, wait . . . a soundcard emulator would need to be made seperately. Thankfully I've been looking in to software AM/FM synthesis. Now if I could just find an old resource on programming for SB cards, I could scratch out a plan for emulation. (Um, doing it that way is legal, right?)
