the 1910, 1930, 1945, 4100 are all plastic. I don't know of any ipaq with a non-plastic shell.

I remember handling a 1910 a year ago, it's not metal, it's silver plastic. Gadgeteer's review also states it's not metal. "The case is made of grey / silver plastic with a chrome colored plastic piping around the sides." . I know what a real metal covering is like, such as the one on my Clie.

And I've used the 4100 a few times, and it's definately NOT metal.

Yes, it certainly does have a "hallow" feel to it. My conclusion is that all of this stuff is simply a matter of personal preference. You guys thing that the Asus has an excellent gamepad and that the 1910 has a horrible game pad, I think that the opposite is true. You guys are okay with the form factor of the asus, I find it to be completely unacceptable. It goes to show that pocket pc's are not a one-size-fits-all kind of deal. If someone says "i want a pocket pc, what should i get?" there is no set answer to the question. It requires having real-world experience with a variety of different models for someone to choose what is right for them.
