Vote Bush

Postby Maf54 » Jul 24, 2004 @ 4:51am

Ok, he’s a trial lawyer, settled. There are some cases where trial lawyers are needed. Do we really need to get in an argument on how politicians are dirty? Because Mr. Cheney as CEO of Halliburton in 1997 sent every member of his company an email saying that if they showed back up for work on Monday they waved their right to sue the company. They would have to settle through an arbitrator picked by the company. Two lower Texas courts had a problem with this but our High Court chose in favor of the company that was forcing this new rule against thousands of people that couldn't afford to disagree.

"There are some cases where trial lawyers are needed."

Of course there are but we are far beyond that point.
Total tort costs today exceed $200 billion annually, approximately 2%+ of America's gross domestic product.

" Two lower Texas courts had a problem with this but our High Court chose in favor of the company that was forcing this new rule against thousands of people that couldn't afford to disagree."

And do you know what they did that ?
Do you think Cheney just likes being a mean asshole ?
How come this sort of shit was not needed 30 or 20 years ago?

You should know who to sent thanks for this state of affairs.

There needs to be balance in every society - we cannot have corporations running amok and that includes Trial Lawyers, Inc as well.

You don't see the point. Granted something should have been done but Cheyney took it to the other extreme. That is not right. You speak of balance but you pick one extreme case over another.

I'm either going to excersice my right not to vote, or write myself in.

I'd rather throw away my vote than cast it for any of the actual candidates.

Not that the President of the United States really matters anyway. You're really just electing who is going to be the scapegooat of the US for the next 4 years. :P

Again if you were talking about say a president of France or prime minister of Canada, I would definitely agree, but POTUS is the most powerful position in the world.

Don't kid yourself - it really does matter who is running the place.

Actually I would be willing to say it matters more whos cabinet is running the place but the elected candidate does selectthat cabinet.

Problem is, no matter who you vote for, it's always the wrong choice - at least on some issues. And how did most of these people get that far? Family connections? Bribery? Mudslinging? Backstabbing? All of the above? Politics is a dirty business. You have to be an asshole at least some of the time to get this far.

I don't need to tell you what I think of Bush. Kerry will probably fuck up big time as well, but hey, at least he knows his sayings and can actually finish a sentence.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens. The polls go up and down like a rollercoaster these days.

"It isn't anything special."

Ok warmi. How many fucking times do I have to tell you that you cannot put words in my mouth? I never have mentioned Bush being and idiot but I am starting to wonder about you. I did not say he was an idiot. I said it was nothing special to get things put through a congress controlled by the same party as him.
