Reagan did not break communism per se- he simply facilitated natural shortcomings of that system and thus should definitely be credited for it.

Can't be proven or disproven, that's the problem. I PERSONALLY believe Regan accelerated the demise of communism in the USSR, but that's me. More importantly, I think he acted as a buffer for its demise, meaning that it could have ended in a bigger 'boom' than it did.

I read a really interesting interview on economics (it touched on pretty much everything from that to race in America) with Thomas Sowell yesterday. He's a senior fellow at Stanford, which is pretty cool...but what's interesting is that he's black AND conservative. If you have the chance find a book by him and read it, it will change your life.
