No, I've never seen that, I've never seen anyone drive their garbage out to the curb and bang the hell out of it with a stick. No, I've never seen that.

Yeah, and often call Zelda 3 (SNES) an RPG.
But you know, to me, if you don't have experience points/levels/or character stat/skill advancement it's not much of an RPG.

So we got graphical adventures (point-and-click adventure) games being called RPGs, and true adventure games being called RPGs. :P

Zelda 3 IS a RPG game, it just doesn't have the skill meters and all (although you do get better weapons/skills along the way ;)).

But not by much. I mean, how many swords does it have? Shields?

Although I must admit that you can increase your life/hit points (hearts) by quite a lot.

I still don't consider it an RPG, just an adventure game. But an awesome one at that.

Yeah, and some people even confuse Jump'n'Runs and Adventures. They call that junk Action-Adventures. Its basically Doom meets Sokoban, Mario and "Lights Out".

In any case, all parts of the Zelda series are RPGs. A hint to distinguishing RPGs from Adventures: In Adventures you usually don't kill monsters etc all through the game and have actually challenging puzzles, not "get me the magic powder from the witch".
The group of RPGs Zelda belongs to is called "Action RPGs" (don't confuse that with Action Adventures, stupid!). Basically, those feature real-time combat instead of turn based fighting.

I consider Zelda 3 to be an Action Adventure, and Mario to be Platform. And as for Secret of Mana, that would be Action RPG. :)

But you see, we could go on and on because this is one of those topics that has no official organization that delineates what the categories really are. Heheh.

We should just start categorizing games by their ratings (T for Teen etc).

Well, I guess Zelda is kind of a hard to define Game ( - however, to be considered an adventure, it lacks real puzzles (wrong word, probably - there are enough puzzles, I am talking about problems that need solutions. As in, How do I get the hamster out of the mouse hole?, etc.
