You're definitely out of luck. We have our own network on campus as well, which blocks just about everything: P2P, IRC, certain chat clients, and a whole buttload of other ports.

Since you don't have access to the network gear on campus, you can't just open up ports or port forward. Unless you manage to find some ports they didn't block, you're probably out of luck.

Of course, you could try bribing the network guy. I find it's always a good idea to establish a friendly relationship with the people who control my bandwidth, port access and fileshares.

So basically the problem is that they block certain ports that give you access to p2p connections? And there may be some ports open? And if I connect to these ports (or whatever the lingo is), I can possibly get through?

Hmm... Haven't met any network people yet, don't know where they are. I'll see what I can do.

It is most likely the school network blocking ports. You can try and configure the p2p apps to use the unblocked ports. Look for a guide to the app, it should explain how to.

Direct Connect allows you to pick the port you have open for active mode.

If you can manage to find out what ports are open you can configure your p2p app to run through those ports. Or, like sponge said, you can tunnel through ssh or ppp(I think ppp), but, he was right, it is quite a geeky solution.

Would a remote desktop connection or something of the like help? Unless they block the ts ports too.
Organic Superlube? Oh, it's great stuff, great stuff. You really have to keep an eye on it, though--it'll try and slide away from you the first chance it gets.

Why bother if it's a 'geeky solution'? If you want it and it works, what the heck :D.
