Hello all you math geniuses out there - this one is for you (5th grade homework, grumble...):
You have two numbers a and b.
You know that their sum plus their difference plus their product plus their quotient equals 81, ie:
(a+b)+(a-b)+ab+a/b
OR
(a+b)+(b-a)+ab+a/b
OR
(a+b)+(a-b)+ab+b/a
OR
(a+b)+(b-a)+ab+b/a
=81
Find the lowest two real numbers this works out for.
Are there more numbers than that? Can you name a rule?
Any help is highly appreciated!
Thanks for your help!
