Thank you Picard, I'm going to look at that material in detail tonight. I still haven't decided whether I'm going to try and go the FMV route for my next game or just keep using my OASIS engine like my last two games. There's pluses and minuses to both (aren't there always?!?), so thanks for the info!

i wouldn't recommend the wmadecoder.dll/wmvdecoder.dll for a game. it's not an officially supported interface, it can change (as something happened with wmp10 too).

Ok, I'll certainly keep that as a far less desirable approach then... I suppose I could externalize the code using it so that someone could just swap a DLL if it ever breaks, but even doing that obviously isn't a great idea.

Looks like OASIS it most likely is. Maybe I'll do myself a favor and spend a month polishing the editor a bit before getting started on the new game.
