DOSBox won't start at all

DOSBox won't start at all

Postby acemarke » Dec 7, 2004 @ 4:06pm

Okay... I've downloaded dosbox.rar from http://mamaich.kasone.com/ , unzipped it, and copied the files to the root directory of my iPaq. I've followed the setup instructions in as far as tweaking the sound settings and autoexec stuff. When I try to run dosbox.exe, nothing happens. Period. No sign that I tried to start it. The two games I've tried to run so far are Master of Orion and Buck Rogers Countdown to Doomsday.

I've got an iPaq 3870 running WM 2003. Anyone have any suggestions? Sorry I can't be more specific, but I'm not getting any error messages or anything.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I suppose it could be the .conf file, but you'd think it would at least show SOMETHING. Currently, there's no sign that DOSBox starts at all.

That said, yeah, here's my .conf file (comments and stuff snipped). Again, thanks in advance for any help.

Try this:

[...]
memsize=8 or 16 (depends on how much free mem you have)
[...]
frameskip=4 (well..find the fitting value yourself)
[autoexec]
mount c "\Storage Card\moo"
c:
orion.exe

It might be rather specific on the nomenclature of the files you are calling upon, that is, you might need to include the extension.

Try changing nosound to "True."
Organic Superlube? Oh, it's great stuff, great stuff. You really have to keep an eye on it, though--it'll try and slide away from you the first chance it gets.
