Letter I Need Translated from German

Letter I Need Translated from German

Postby Warren » Dec 12, 2004 @ 1:30am

Okay, so I little while ago, I sent in my application to Audi for an internship in Ingolstadt. They had 2 applications, one in German and one in English. I sent in the one in English. I get a letter from them and despite my application being in English, they send it in German. Not a problem, I can decipher a good portion of it, but there's a section about social indentification card and health care that I do not understand. I took it to my teacher and she didn't know and gave it to the top professor, and even he wasn't sure. I then sent it to a friend I have in Germany via AIM, and she didn't know if they wanted me to send them health care information now or later. So, if there's any Germans here or people who speak German proficiently, can you help tell what they're telling me here? Thanks.

Here's what Google says:

We thank you for your interest in a Fereinarbeit in our enterprise. Since the examination of a possible application type will still take some time up, we ask you for something patience. Independently of it, whether you actually take up an occupation with AUDI warden, we would like to inform you about the fact that all Fereinarbeiter/ employees are obligated to submit at the beginning of the occupation the social security document of identification at the respective employer. Reliably your health insurance company gives you closer information. With appropriate personnel requirements we will sit down as soon as possible again with you in connection. If you should have received however two week before your wished employment date still no invitation from us, you can assume we can unfortunately offer no application type to you. They will receive no refusal from us. If personnel requirements should result, we reserve ourselves however to invite you at short notice. A part of your applicant data is stored for statistic reasons in our EDP system. These data are naturally confidentially treated. Yours sincerely AUDI AG personnel management

I'm guessing Fereinarbeit means intern.
Organic Superlube? Oh, it's great stuff, great stuff. You really have to keep an eye on it, though--it'll try and slide away from you the first chance it gets.

1. Google doesn't translate well at all, and much of that could and probably is wrong.

2. The letter was snail mail, I emailed them before I sent an application, and they responded in German, and that email had many spelling mistakes, making translating extremely hard.

Socialized Health Care James, the government provides it, I found out about applying for it from looking at universities there, it's pretty cheap actually, like 50 Euro a semester or something. And employer usually houses the intern. Even if they do want me to send them something, what would I send??

Hey, just for kicks ... that's "Ferienarbeit", right? The word Fereinarbeit does not exist in the German language - the only other thing that gets close to it is Verein - which does not make any sense in combination with Arbeit. You are applying for a holiday job?

Basically, they are saying that you have to show them a social security card thingie and that your insurance (Krankenkasse is health insurance) will tell you more.

They also say that they are not sure yet whether they will actually employ you or not (you knew that, right?) and that they will get back to you asap. If you don't recieve any info on that two weeks before the date you wanted to start the job, they probably wont need your help. Then again, they might still invite you on short notice.

They also say that they will save some of your info for statistic reasons.

Oh, and Moose ... thanks for that insight on the Germans ... LOL. Why don't you tell us about the current economic situation in Kajabulikistan, while you are at it?
