Buttons on Pocket pcs

Buttons on Pocket pcs

Postby dodocaca » Jan 5, 2005 @ 10:09pm

I justg read another review on the Asus 730w and how well it did in terms of benchmarks.

Benchmark scores are great only if you can control the game that you are playing. While the Asus devices have ok button layouts and responsiveness, I sure miss the Casio e125 layout.

I am using an Axim X30 high end model, and although its fast enough in terms of gaming benchmarks, the buttons are too small and stiff.
Any word on new pdas with really good dpad and button layouts?

VGA screens and benchmarks are great but gamers need a good dpad and buttons to. It may look good, but if I cant move what good is it?

What is on the horizon for gamers?????

No, I've never seen that, I've never seen anyone drive their garbage out to the curb and bang the hell out of it with a stick. No, I've never seen that.

There is a company called TT Tech Ltd. that makes game pads for Palm devices.
The community for my pda tried getting them to make game pads for Windoes Ce and Pocket PC devices but it was unsuccessful.

Here is a link to the post about it.
where all pdas have a home. Free Pocket PC themes and videos available. PDA podcast now available.

To answer all of the questions here about the gamepad i will quote my fist posting.

This guy here has written a joystick/gamepad driver for the pocket pc (actually was written for the LOOX)

The gamepad i found that works with all axis and buttons is the "Gravis gamepad pro USB" (I tried alot of gamepads) (was also told that the original Microsoft sidewinder USB works the same)

Here is the driver to download. You must follow these instructions in order for everything to work. Once done and plugged in, you will see a message saying "gamepad connected"

copy it to your E830's Windows folder and enter the following to your registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\HID\LoadClients\Defaul
t\Default\1_5\Gamepad] "DLL"="hidgamep.dll"

finally do a soft reset and attach the gamepad.
And don't forget to unplug the client calble from the PC othervise it won't work.
The driver simply maps generic y and x axis to up,down, left, right and buttons 1-8 to Numpad 1-8.
