Looking for Isometric resources, sources

I know PPC Studios have a isometric engine like that, if you're not interested in writing your own from scratch. RaptureEngine I believe.

Thanks Sponge, I have taken a look at the Rapture Engine and am still considering source code purchase however it's so much more expensive than all the other tools I have purchased or donated to (PF/HAL,Hekkus & PocketGL) and having written this type of engine for PC before I'm not sure whether I would be better off writing from scratch.

Since posting I've found the article to go with source I have for a tile map with height including locating the correct tile so that's a good start for me.

thanks for the replies chaps. I will pop down to borders books to see if they have that book (best tech bookshop in Glasgow) if not then it's Amazon.

This is going to be so much easier than my last game which hadlots of 3D but I'm sure there are still real challenges ahead. One of my issues is water. I must have really neat water

im looking to do something with water at some point, so i researched this a bit a while back.


though i think a particle system like this http://www.rowlhouse.co.uk/water/index.html could work better on a handheld, but ive not really investigated fully yet.

After a long series of internet searches I now have 2 good sources for a variable height isometric view (one with an editor) and another source for what looks like a great map maker. Once I know the worth of these I will post those that are of value to others.

(commented source is hard to find but I got there at last. Despite having the largest collection of resources gamedev.net did not have the best)

Just found by old PC game source and documentation for 'it's the Romans' my unfinished iso game from 1993. Should make interesting reading, did I really do so much documentation?
