 http://www.asus.com/support/faq/faqmode ... Name=A730W

Q: Why can't I access A730W Automatic Power Saving Mode?

A: In order to increase WiFi performance, "Automatic Power Saving Mode" will be disabled automatically in A730W.

This is a confirmation of this issue being ROM related not necessarly overclocked.
Just received my 730W (never thought overclocking the device, at least yet...) and went for the new ROM having lost my Flash Disk.
I new about this post prior tto the upgrade so checked if the power sabe option was avail and it was. Went for the upgrade and bang this option is no longer available... Smart I was from this post, I had made an image prior to the upgrade, now applying the imaga back on the new ROM the greyed out power save check box is still grey, but enabled! (the bit was set on by the restore)...
So I did a WiFi performance comparison to confirm ASUS explanation and the result is that they are full of... 10M ISP test download file (very stable download) 3 minutes 26 sec with the bit enabled and 3 minutes 15 seconds after a cold restart (no power save check).

Looks like another manufacturer is trying to fool us... My feeling is that the WiFi bug is more serious than that like not recovering from step down when WiFi is enabled... I wll do more test.

Another thing I will seek for now knowing the bit is volatile is looking for its location in the registry.

Be back soon,

Cheers!
