Yeah, wanting to fire an employee for being aligned against your business' interests. Not only that, but going up on a panel at a popular event to express that to the public. Extremely stupid of me.

It's a sad state of affairs that you probably can't fire someone for that without being sued. At least, not explicitly.

There's a difference between thinking something, and actually acting on it. Acting on your love for warez = grounds for firing. Having an opinion on it shouldn't. And it's a shame all the crappy lawsuits make it so legit lawsuits like the one above would be get criticized negatively.

Thankfully, you're not in a position to fire Spector, and the few higher ups he has are smart enough to realize that people can have conflicting opinions without firing them.
