I can't be expected to read his post. It was way too long. :P Still stand by the other parts of my post.

I've never been a fan of switching bandwagons at every chance you get and I dont really respect people who do this much, but if you havent owned a Sony system it would make some sense as I had a PS1 and own a PS2, and really imo they havent matched up to my old N64 in entertaiment value to be honest. But in hindsight you might regret losing the DS when games actually start to take advantage of what the DS can do. So far I havent seen much yet, but I'm a patient guy and got a really good deal for my DS, and as we all know the DS can do things no other system can, while with the PSP we know exactly what to expect.

I'm afraid Bigger screens, shiny black cases, movie playback and whatnot, dont really tempt me (I must be weird, but apparantly the slow sales shown in that ign article might agree with me). I am much more interested in the new control mechanics possible on the DS, the free wifi service for online DS games through the net should also be damn interesting and so on and so forth.

I believe the slow sales mainly have to do with the poor launch date. Remember that the DS launched at Christmas time. The PSP is the number one selling console in Japan this year.

This guy has TEN dead pixels......now that's a little extreme:

But luckily Sony IS replacing them:

Interesting, how many dead pixels are needed until it is "considered" defective?

From what I understand Sony will replace it if you have enough to make you mad.

I asked a Gamestop rep what they'd do if I had any dead pixels- They said they'd just exchange it for a different unit. The clerk also said that they only had 1 unit that had dead pixels sold on launch. (They sold around 58, apparently.)

Sponge- I do still have a PPC, but it's a 3 year old iPAQ 3765- Battery life is horrid. I get maybe two hours of MP3 playback with the screen off and the volume set to minimum. Watching films is not going to happen, as I'd get less than an hour with the backlight on. Plus, it can't play games, with the whole 'You can only press one button at once' issue it has. It's just an old, outdated paperweight.

I've reconsidered the issue- I don't want to go into another impulse buy dealie, like I did with the DS. I think I'll wait a month. That'll allow some time for my wallet to accumulate some more cash, so I can buy a PSP without having to trade in my DS. It will also give me some time to truly consider this. I don't want to plop down ~$300, only to be dissapointed. So, we'll see.

Yeah, that is probably a good idea, at least you have the DS for now, and you obviously will get a better picture of the PSP in the future. I mean unless there is a reason you would really need a PSP asap, if not waiting cant hurt, if anything better games and lower prices.

Well I bought a PSP today with some cash I earned over the weekend. Lucky for me, mine does not have any dead pixels or anything, so I guess I got a good unit. The refresh rate leaves something to be desired, but other than that the screen quality is very nice. I haven't bought a game yet since I really can't afford one at the moment, but I'll buy one this weekend when I get ahold of some more cash. Right now I'm checking out the Spider Man 2 UMD......looks great, but the sound really isn't very good unless you have headphones on. But overall the unit seems very nice, and it really feels like some luxurious item.....makes me handle it like it's a very fragile device. Kinda expensive, but very cool.

...err... You actually buy a console without a game? LOL! I never did that before... Why not wait another week and get the PSP plus a game? I've heard that the sales aren't that spectacular and that most stores still a have a lot of them in stock.
