Unprecedented increase in average car's horsepower

Postby NYIllustrator » May 11, 2005 @ 12:32pm

James,

I find it hard to believe you are getting the gas mileage. A MINI Cooper S only gets around 24 to 28. With a JCW kit it puts out 210.

I do.

And The Mini S is supercharged and a german engine.

Besides, I broke my car in myself, and properly.

Excuse me? The "breaking in" makes naff-all difference on today's cars. And why should a German car do less mpg than an American car, especially given fuel prices in Europe. Might be hard for you to understand, but petrol here is 90p/litre in some places. ($1.67/litre).

If you do things by the gallon, then that's $6.32/gallon. Think you'll find manufacturers try harder over here to get better efficiency...
