Well, the number one reason that a Jornada version of Quake is not available is that there is an SH3 specific bug, perhaps related to memory alignment, that needs to be resolved by dubugging on an actual Jornada. No programmer owning a Jornada has stepped forward to do that minor debugging to isolate the problem. If I knew where the problem ocurred I could most likely correct it. I have had a couple of non-programmers volunteer to attempt a debug, but I have not had the time to write out a step by step set of instructions on what they need to do.

Another reason there is little Jornada support (game-wise) is that it represents the lowest denominator of the primary three Pocket PC hardware types (iPaq / @migo, Casio, HP). Being the slowest (benchmark-wise), and not having a gampad, will always put it last on a programmers to-support list. HP, I guess through their infinite marketing wisdom, has tried to portrait the Jornada as a down to earth business machine, and not a gaming device. Hence their goal has been reached, and they are being left behing in that area.

Dan East
