ok this is not a msg to rag on the status of pocket quake - i love the new .6 mips port beta but there are things that i hope are worked on for the next one.

on exit of pq there is an area of the screen witch are not restored - by the input icon you can still see the remniants of pq's screen.

the ability to use "buttons" (all buttons) while in menus not just aux5.

how about the right version number in the menu's and title screen ?

the intergration of pocket hexen's compression method to speed up loading and usage.

skinable main screen (not that i dont like 999's skills)

i dont think what i ask is that demanding and should be possable.

improve the clipping issues (walking by a movable object and it blinks out of view then back in)

keep up the great work pq team !!!

I'm not sure what's up with the screen corruption after PQ exits. The desktop should refresh itself. Turning your device off then back on should work around the problem for now.

The reason I only modified aux5 is because any button I modify to map in the menus cannot then be assigned using the modify controls option menu.

Yeah, I noticed I forgot to update the version number internally.

I would like to incorporate Pocket Hexen's compression technique if it will be compatible with the pak files.

User definable skins is a planned future enhancement.

There are some minor precision problems with one of the fixed point conversions. I hope to tweak them for 0.07 to remove the rendering artifacts.

Dan East

in the case of aux5 then is there anyway to define witch key acts in that way ? in the case of my casio e125 aux5 is a key in the control pad area that i use to play (jump button actually)
perhaps you could set it to aux1 (left high button) aux2 (left low button) or joy1 (center button of side joystick)

It compresses its wad file and keeps an index of where all the compressed files are within the archive. it speeds up getting the files out you need - where pocket quake has to read through the archive till it finds what it is looking for.

Dan, here are the GAPI properties for my Casio E-125 if you want to edit them in the source so Casio users can use our Contact (bottom right on face) button in PQ.

Device = Pocket PC J670

Size(240,320)
Pitch (2,512)
BPP = 16
Format = 0xA0
Up = 0x26
Down = 0x28
Left = 0x25
Right = 0x27
A = 0xC3
B = 0xC4
C = 0xC2
Start = 0xC1

I'm sorry it doesn't say the record or action buttons, but this was a spare debugger program I had lying around. Thought it might help. ABC are the face buttons.

Okay, so there's two issues here? The contact button is not accessable in PQ. Moose, which of those values represents the Contact button? Next, which of those values do you want to make mappable for the menu toggle key?
Finally, it sounds like the EM-500 buttons are different than for the E-125/115. Are they all accessable?

Dan East

Here is the button layout, as I believe. I'm not sure though:

A
B C

That's:
MENU
CALENDAR CONTACT

Test that and let's find out.

Oh, wait. I forgot. With each one of Casio's update packages the button configurations change. At first, the buttons were great in a game like... Turjah. But now after a couple of Casio's updates, the Record button is now fire! They need to quit changing around key assignments.
